Looking For A New Vehicle? Why Not A Motorcycle?

For many, cutting back their carbon footprint is a very important part of their lives. You recycle, turn off the faucet while brushing your teeth and don’t use the plastic bags from the grocery store.

Also for many, one’s car is the biggest polluter they have. Electric cars are great way to cut back on emissions, but they can be too pricey for some. In so many parts of the world, having a car is vital to your daily life. Not only does it help you get from A to B, but it’s also how you connect to well, everything.

What comes to mind when you think of motorcycles? A cool cut off leather jacket? Hardcore rock music? Biker gangs? Tattoos?

What about an eco-friendly vehicle? Going green? Safety?

You’re trying to do all you can to protect the environment, so why not re-examine your vehicle options.

Motorcycles are Easier on the Environment

If you’ve seen the movie Dumb and Dumber, some of you may remember the scene where Lloyd trades their van for a motorbike:

“Traded the van for it, straight up. I can get 70 miles to the gallon on this hog.”

Even though that movie came out in 1994, the idea of fuel efficiency still rings true today. Motorcycles, and all motorbikes, are much more fuel efficient than cars with the ability to go for more miles on the gallon.

Not only are you bound to get more bang for your buck, but motorcycles take it easier on other parts of the environment. To be produced, they require a substantially less amount of raw materials than a car to produce. You can make around seven motorcycles with the materials to make just one car.

Additionally, they put much less pressure on transport infrastructure than cars do. It’s impossible to drive 30 seconds these days without seeing a pothole and motorcycles will cause less long-term damage than your average car.

Lastly, motorcycles take up less space on the highway. So many cars have only one person riding in them that takes up a lot of room. Less room on the highway means more traffic and what happens if a car breaks down? A traffic jam going back for miles and miles.

Motorcycles take up significantly less space and are quite easy to move if one breaks down.

Motorcycles are on the vehicle-sharing train

“I’ll just get an Uber” is an incredibly common phrase among people. Instead of opting to drive downtown and deal with traffic, it’s easier to have a car come to your house and take you down there, so you don’t have to worry about being stuck in a jam.

All of this is part of the car-sharing revolution that seems to be sweeping the world. But did you know, motorcycles and motorbikes are also on this path?

Many cities have motorbike sharing options and nearly all of them are electric. Many come equipped with two helmets, just in case you have a passenger, and are easily unlockable by phone. Additionally, they tend to be cheaper than Uber or Lyft and you can park them much easier when traveling downtown.

Motorcycles are safer than cars

While it is true that there are still a high number of accidents with motorcycles each year, a motorbike offers the driver much more safety than a car.

With a motorcycle, you’ll have:

  • Greater line of vision
  • Better maneuverability
  • Less distractions

In a car, it’s much more difficult to be able to swerve out of the way from an oncoming incident or something in the road. With a motorcycle, you have better control over your actions. Additionally, you’ll always have two hands to steer, minimizing the desire to check Instagram or scroll through your texts.

Many accidents are caused by negligence of other drivers, so you’ll want to be sure and protect yourself from an unfortunate accident, if it does happen.

Motorcycles are cheaper

If you’re looking to not put so much pain on your wallet, then a motorcycle is for you. It’s safe to say that motorcycles are much cheaper to buy than a car and that also extends to the other areas of vehicle ownership. You’ll be paying less for gas, maintenance and insurance.

At the end of the day, you’ll be able to ride in style while saving money and helping the environment.

If you have finally decided to get a new motorcycle, get custom motorcycle number plates for your new ride at PlatesExpress.
